A Sleep Laboratory Technologist works within sleep clinics with patients with known or suspected sleep disorders. Schedules and coordinates patient assessment, testing, results reporting, treatment and follow up. Performs polysomnographic testing. Performs routine maintenance and calibration of the test equipment to ensure its proper operating condition.

Job Description

Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Work Experience:
One (1) year experience preferred.
Other Information:
Can be Registered as a Sleep Technologist (RST) or Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Certified Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT) or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS). National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred.

Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate OR associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology OR Graduate of an accredited registered/professional respiratory therapy program OR Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated (A-STEP) with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility OR equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technician.
