A Clinical Laboratory Scientist analyzes samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes within a medical laboratory or healthcare facility. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

Job Description

Role Overview:
This position involves performing clinical laboratory testing under supervision, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with protocols. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, documenting investigations, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting lab data, and contributing to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accuracy in patient testing, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency evaluations. Ensure correct specimen identification and accurate reporting within turnaround times. Investigate and document QA failures, trends, and corrective actions. Interpret lab data in relation to clinical findings, recognizing data-clinical relationships. Monitor information flow, complete required logs, and communicate effectively with team members. Assist in method validation, inspection preparation, and performance improvement projects. Adhere to safety, regulatory, and organizational policies, maintaining current knowledge and training.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Science, or related field; Master's preferred. Certifications such as MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent are required upon hire. Minimum one year laboratory experience preferred. Proficiency in computer/data entry, familiarity with EPIC and 3M systems preferred. Effective communication skills and knowledge of laboratory operations.
Additional Duties:
Participates in meetings, committees, and educational activities; maintains compliance with policies and standards to ensure high-quality laboratory services.
