A Sleep Laboratory Technologist works within sleep clinics with patients with known or suspected sleep disorders. Schedules and coordinates patient assessment, testing, results reporting, treatment and follow up. Performs polysomnographic testing. Performs routine maintenance and calibration of the test equipment to ensure its proper operating condition.

This is an individual that performs sleep studies to assist in the assessment, testing and monitoring, diagnosis, management and care of patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, restless leg's syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder, REM behavior disorder, narcolepsy, insomnia, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have successfully completed one of the exams listed below: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT): CPSGT-Certified Polysomnographic Technician CPSGT Credential is non-renewable. Employee must earn RPSGT credential prior to expiration date of CPSGT credential. RPSGT-Registered Polysomnographic Technician National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC): CRT-SDS - Certified Respiratory Therapist (If not already SDS, individual must pass exam within 7 months of hire date) RRT-SDS - Registered Respiratory Therapist (If not already SDS, individual must pass exam within 4 months of hire date) American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM): Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) Individual must have a Louisiana license. Individual must be competent in the performance of sleep studies. Individual must attain a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and moral character. Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
