Medical Technologist Gift of Life Michigan - 3.4 Ann Arbor, MI Job Details Full-time $31.00 - $33.38 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Video conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Summary In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Medical Technologist performs high complexity laboratory functions to obtain data for use in infectious disease and/ histocompatibility evaluations of potential deceased and living donors for the purpose of transplantation. Duties & Responsibilities The following job duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive. Those in bold are essential duties of the position: Prepare specimens, reagents, and instrumentation for testing and/or storage. Maintain accurate documentation of all laboratory responsibilities. Conduct high-complexity laboratory testing including quality control and review and release of test results. Complete on-call essential laboratory services for deceased donor organ procurement such as performing tests and reporting results without direct supervision. Perform preventative and general maintenance for laboratory work areas, equipment, and instrumentation. Maintain inventory of supplies. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Required Bachelor's degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology area of study. Preferred A minimum of one-year recent relevant clinical laboratory experience. Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or equivalent, or Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (ACHI). Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Written and verbal fluency in English. Ability to exercise initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities. Demonstrate attention to detail. Concentrate and function with frequent distractions and interruptions. Ability to produce analytical reports, including financial and statistical analysis. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work independently on daily activities. Ability to learn and understand scientific and medical terminology. Focus on work details for extended periods of time. Work Conditions Gift of Life Michigan is a 24 hour/365-day operation which may impact work schedule requirements differently depending on the position. The home office location for this position is the Gift of Life main office. Remote work is not permitted. The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday. Periodic/rotating nights, weekends, and holiday on-call shift requirements. This position will not be required to travel.
