Full-Time Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Night Shift Medical Technologist. You will perform advanced clinical laboratory testing and analysis across multiple departments to support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment. In this vital role, you will ensure the integrity of clinical specimens, maintain complex analyzer systems, and uphold the highest standards of laboratory quality, safety, and operational excellence.
Core Responsibilities Clinical Testing:
Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses on blood, urine, and other biological fluids across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, microbiology, and immunology.
Specimen Processing:
Process, handle, and track clinical specimens according to strict established laboratory protocols.
Microscopic Analysis:
Conduct manual testing, urine microscopics and differential analyses, utilizing laboratory microscopes.
Quality Control:
Execute daily quality control protocols, validate test accuracy, and properly document any needed corrective actions.
Instrumentation Maintenance:
Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on lab analyzers in alignment with manufacturer specifications.
Critical Reporting:
Record test results accurately in the laboratory information system and immediately report critical values via established communication protocols.
Proficiency Compliance:
Participate in mandatory proficiency testing and maintain verified clinical competency across all technical laboratory areas. Misc.: Execute miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Laboratory Operations Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications Education:
Meet one of the following educational frameworks: Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science (chemical, physical, or biological science) or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution. Completion of 60 semester hours including 24 hours of clinical laboratory science OR 24 hours of science (6 chemistry, 6 biology, 12 science combination) AND either an accredited training program or 3 months of documented training in each high-complexity testing specialty.
Certification:
Active MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), or equivalent national certification.
Language & Communication:
Fluent in reading, speaking, and writing English. Must communicate professionally at all times and regularly review/acknowledge official company communications (verbal, electronic, text, or mobile app).
Teamwork:
Demonstrated ability to balance team responsibilities, welcome feedback, respect diversity, and promote a harassment-free work environment.
Team Environment:
Join a collaborative team of experienced, cross-trained laboratory professionals who support one another across departments. While this position may involve independent overnight work, team members remain closely connected through established communication and workflow channels with cross-coverage systems to ensure operational continuity and support.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment Physical Demands:
Ability to intermittently walk and stand during the shift. Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds.
Vision Standards:
Excellent close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environment:
Quiet to moderate noise levels with occasional exposure to equipment vibration.
Safety Protocols:
Strict adherence to infection control, safety, and hazard methods. Requirement to wear closed-toe, non-permeable shoes, lab coats, and gloves. Safety glasses/face shields are provided and required as necessary.
