Job Description

Responsible for performing waived, moderate, and highly complex testing on human specimens within laboratory procedures to obtain information for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients for the Hospital's clinical laboratory. Collect, evaluate, and process specimens through general phlebotomy techniques (venipuncture, capillary puncture, etc.) for analysis and apply techniques used in the fields of Hematology, Blood Banking, Chemistry, Microscopy, and Coagulation. Perform urine drug screens and breath alcohol tests, completing chain of custody and labeling. Responsible for analyzing results of testing and recording and reporting such results in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and regulatory requirements and for determining when test should be repeated, reported, redrawn, or sent to reference lab. Maintain lab records and inventory, performing same for reagents and supplies regularly. Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on all instruments, determining root cause and taking corrective action. Implement quality assurance program and consult with colleagues, physicians, patients, and other Hospital personnel on laboratory tests and results and critical and corrected lab values as well as participate in Hospital committees and initiatives which support lab staff and operations. Full-time employment, requiring a minimum of forty (40) hours per week, with extended and "on call" hours, when necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
