MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR
LICENSURE
1. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) Certification through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists 2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
EXPERIENCE
1. Three (3) years of experience as a sleep tech.

CORE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Performs as the primary educator for sleep staff meeting the quality of standards of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine to assure optimum delivery of polysomnographic testing and patient care. 2. Coordinates and evaluates all elements of clinical, financial, material, and human resources (HR) in the provision of ND services. Requires effective communication with medical staff, hospital administration, and healthcare providers 3. Ensures adequate technical staffing coverage for the lab following established productivity standards. Activates problem resolution and troubleshooting actions to prevent patient procedural delays. Performs service recovery as needed. Acts in the absence of the Director. 4. Provides direct feedback to Director of ND technologist performance and team needs. Assists with performance management and progressive discipline. Assists Director with the hiring, retention, interviewing, and recruitment of staff. Coaches and counsels ND technologists as needed. May monitor employee action plans. 5. Performs monthly operational budget variance analysis/reporting. Responsible to monitor financial performance of cost center. Executes actions to keep budget accounts at or under budget. 6. Leads efforts toward the AASM accreditation and maintenance of standards. 7. Exercises a technical review of the impulses being recorded 8. Demonstrates proper set-up for the designated test(s) 9. Detects and eliminates artifact 10. Reviews set-ups and calibrations of monitoring equipment; measurement and application of appropriate EEG, EKG, and EOG monitoring electrodes; placement of recording transducers to measure airflow, respiratory effort, and oximetry. 11. Demonstrates accurate and efficient scoring of the polysomnogram, summarizing sleep/wake periods, REM episodes, arousal analysis, EEG phenomena, cardiac events, respiratory events, limb movements, and other physiological events according to current guidelines. Ensures that the polysomnogram is appropriately prepared for physician interpretation. 12. Describes normal and abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the procedure. 13. Interacts with each patient on an individual basis in order to obtain the best cooperative effort possible in accordance with policy and procedure guidelines 14. Maintains an expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to polysomnographic studies in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care/safety. 15. Supports staff by promoting problem solving, peer review, team building, and by displaying the highest professional standards. Serves as the professional role model for the polysomnographic techs. 16. Performs Quality Assurance functions for the Sleep Lab including equipment and staff. 17. Maintains proficiency in use of polysomnographic equipment. 18. Maintains knowledge of department policies and procedures. Assists in developing relevant departmental policies and procedures. 19. Provides direct feedback to Director regarding polysomnographic staff performance. 20. Provides direct feedback regarding provision of service and customer satisfaction. 21. Performs as a Polysomnographic Technologist in clinical and on-call rotation as needed. 22. Directs daily workflow of the Sleep Lab, staff scheduling and work assignments.
