Medical Technologist

Duties:

Must be proficient in collecting blood samples (Venipuncture). Handling blood and urine samples and sample processing. Will run calibrations, quality control samples, proficiency testing samples, and patient samples on laboratory analyzers. Will review and interpret lab results and enter them into electronic medical record system. Will perform scheduled analyzer maintenance.

Additional duties:

Will be trained to perform vision testing, ECG, and taking vitals (blood pressure, pulse, O2 sat, temperature). Will be scheduled to take a NIOSH-approved Spirometry training course to become proficient in performing spirometry (pulmonary function) testing. Will be scheduled to take a CAOHC-approved Audiometry course to become certified in performing audiograms (hearing tests).

Education:

Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Medical Technologist (also known as Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist). AS or higher and 2-5 years of relevant experience. Work Environment /

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Light to moderate lifting may be required for packages and other items, ability to walk short distances, may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. Due to government and/or federal regulations for this position, proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
