JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the performance of patient testing in an organized and efficient manner through accuracy of reporting, timeliness of analyses, and cost-effective processes. Responsible for the performance of quality control protocol and evaluation of the quality control data including following established protocols, documentation, and recognizing and resolving out of control scenarios. Follow the established guidelines and protocols for test reporting that includes: proper handling of critical values, proper reporting of STAT values, recognition and resolution of problem scenarios in a professional manner and reviewing departmental testing logs for completeness of testing requests. Demonstrate a knowledge and ability to interact with laboratory information system (LIS) and hospital information system (HIS) computer functions as it relates to the testing and reporting area. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward changes in testing, and in the development of a team approach to work volume and flow. Participate in the departmental quality assurance initiatives in pursuit of quality services. Responsible for the performance and completion of defined equipment and instrument maintenance protocols. Follow the recommended manufacturer and/or department defined instrument set up procedures prior to testing. Effectively troubleshoot and resolve instrument malfunctions to assure the real time availability of equipment. Responsible for the efficient and cost-effective use of supplies and reagents inventory and routine stocking as per the defined department schedule. Assure that adequate supplies are available in the assigned work areas by performing inventory and routine stocking as per the defined department schedule.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field.
Certification:
Board registered with one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (ASCP, NCA, NRCC, or AAM).
Other Requirements:
Experience with laboratory computer information systems. Experience with quality control and quality assurance practices in a laboratory environment. Experience with CLIA, CAP, or other regulatory standards and guidelines for laboratory practice. Experience in performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in areas such as hematology, microbiology, chemistry, immunology, and blood banking.
Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Rate of Pay:
$36.94 to $56.51 per hour, depending on experience and placement pursuant to the applicable UFCW collective bargaining agreement.
