Job Description

Part-time Allied Health Adjunct Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise, with primary teaching responsibilities within the Medical Assisting pathway. Instruction may include classroom, laboratory, hybrid, online, clinical, and concurrent enrollment delivery formats. Courses may be held days, evenings, weekends, and at off-site partner locations, including high school concurrent enrollment settings. The instructor reports to the Department Chair within the Allied Health & Wellness division and is responsible for instruction, student assessment, clinical/lab oversight, and other related instructional duties. The instructor must maintain compliance with current Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and Medical Assisting Education Review Board accreditation standards, as well as applicable Colorado Career & Technical Education (CTE) and Concurrent Enrollment expectations. The instructor must demonstrate professionalism, patience, respect, and clear expectations while supporting students in the development of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective competencies required for entry-level Medical Assistants. Instruction should promote workforce readiness, clinical competency, professionalism, and safe patient care practices. This posting may be used to fill multiple part-time Allied Health Adjunct Instructor vacancies. Finalists must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online instruction. Work Environment and Schedule The Allied Health Adjunct Instructor collaborates closely with the Department Chair, faculty, clinical partners, concurrent enrollment partners, and administrative personnel within the Allied Health & Wellness division. Instruction may occur on the Lakewood Campus, Arvada Campus, partner high school sites, clinical affiliate locations, and online environments. Schedules may vary based on instructional assignment and may include daytime, evening, weekend, hybrid, online, laboratory, or clinical instruction. Additional time outside scheduled instructional hours may be required for course preparation, grading, student support, mandatory meetings, accreditation activities, clinical coordination, and program initiatives. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to accurately observe, assess, and evaluate student clinical performance and competency attainment. Ability to safely demonstrate and supervise clinical and laboratory procedures. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt instructional methods to support varying learning styles and student needs. Proficiency with instructional technology, electronic documentation systems, and learning management systems. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in healthcare and educational environments. Required Qualifications Associate Degree or higher in Medical Assisting, Allied Health, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related healthcare discipline. Current nationally recognized Medical Assisting credential such as: American Association of Medical Assistants Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent credential recognized within the discipline. Minimum of 4,000 verified occupational hours within the healthcare field within the last five years. Current Colorado CTE credential or the ability to obtain one. Ability to teach and evaluate clinical and administrative Medical Assisting competencies in accordance with
CAAHEP/MAERB
standards. Demonstrated knowledge of ambulatory healthcare practices, clinical procedures, infection control, patient communication, documentation, and healthcare professionalism. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or higher in a healthcare-related discipline. Current BLS/CPR certification through American Heart Association. One (1) year or more of teaching experience in post-secondary, career and technical education, or concurrent enrollment settings. Experience with online, hybrid, laboratory, and simulation-based instruction. Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting equity, access, and student success initiatives. Knowledge of Colorado Concurrent Enrollment and Career & Technical Education pathways. Familiarity with accreditation processes, competency-based education, and healthcare workforce development. Physical & Cognitive Demands The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. Routinely uses computers and standard office/classroom equipment. Frequently demonstrates clinical and laboratory procedures requiring standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements. Occasionally moves and transports classroom or laboratory supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. Constantly communicates with students, faculty, staff, clinical affiliates, and community partners. Cognitive demands include analyzing, evaluating, instructing, coordinating, communicating, problem-solving, and maintaining attention to detail within educational and clinical settings. Matthews@rrcc.edu . Advertised Pay The pay range for lectures is $1.177.73 - $1294.58. The pay for lecture/lab the pay range is $1,660.54 - $1,826.60, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
