Location Overview:
This position is located at our University Crossing location, Joint Commission certified, three-story, 82,000 square-foot facility with 111 beds, serving patients with both short and long-term rehabilitation needs. Position Summary:
Registered Nurse responsible for educational interventions and nursing practice instruction within Brooks Rehabilitation.
Responsibilities:
Provides new nursing staff members with orientation to system, facility, job roles and responsibilities. Instruct newly hired nursing staff in the clinical aspects of the practice of nursing. Instruct and facilitate discussions about accepted methods of nursing practice including professional aspects of nursing, assessment of functional health patterns, nursing interventions, medical, surgical and allied health treatments (such as observing and recording symptoms and applying principles of asepsis and antisepsis, etc.). Interact and collaborate with nursing leadership and team members as necessary to evaluate new staff competency and recommend orientees for specific skills training and observe performance in actual nursing situations. Ensures new employee education files are complete, up to date and demonstrate competency as required by regulation and policies Counsel nurses on educational and related problems; facilitate problem solving process; offer advice and assistance as needed. Identifies educational needs of nursing staff, creates and executes plan to address educational needs. Provides new hire and annual Alzheimer Training as a certified dementia trainer through the state of Florida. Assist with the orientation and coordination of clinical nursing students at the facilities. Actively participates as a member of the nursing leadership team. Utilizes an interactive education approach as well as adult learning theory in the planning and delivery of education and learning activities. Expresses ideas effectively in oral and written form. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with associates, colleagues, students and members of the staff. Maintains strong knowledge base of skilled nursing and health care agencies, functions of departments, policies, regulations and procedures. Perform related work as required, able to assume patient care assignment if needed in crisis staffing situations
Qualifications:
Bachelors in Nursing in the state of Florida is required, MSN is preferred. Clinical nursing education/ practice as a registered nurse within a Skilled Nursing Facility, hospital or inpatient rehabilitation setting.
Compensation :
Experience and education may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended .
