Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Assist with the American Heart (AHA) Training Center to ensure that American Heart Association classes as well as other applicable critical care classes are provided to maintain staff expertise in advanced cardiac life-saving techniques and emergency response to patient care needs. Assists with development of creative marketing strategies for educational programs. Provide input into the development of policies and procedures relevant to roles and responsibilities. Serve as a nurse planner for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Nursing Continuing Education Activity Units (CEAU). Participate in hospital accreditation activities related to competency issues, delivery of nursing service orientation, competency validation and hospital-wide educational programs as required. EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
Graduate of approved BSN program, with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Ability to achieve and maintain current instructor level certification status in all AHA offerings (BLS, ACLS and PALS). Minimum of 5 years nursing experience as a registered nurse in a critical care setting. Proficient in the use of audiovisual equipment, word processing and presentation software.
Preferred:
MSN or equivalent related degree and with program management experience. Possess education/training/experience in the principles of adult learning.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and clinical practice relevant to neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.
