NurseThe Hospital Educator plays a key role in advancing professional development and delivering educational services to clinical staff. This role fosters excellence in patient care and safety by equipping staff with the knowledge and skills necessary for competent, compliant practice. The Educator assesses learning needs, identifies appropriate training resources, and facilitates programs to support continuous improvement. All educational initiatives are designed and implemented in alignment with regulatory, accreditation, and internal standards, including CIHQ, CMS, OSHA, and hospital policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assess educational needs across clinical departments; develop, facilitate, and coordinate educational programs and learning processes. Ensure activities align with the hospital's mission, values, priorities, and resources. Collaborate with the CNO, Compliance and Human Resources on required training and competencies for CIHQ review. Support clinical staff development through targeted education and mentorship while consistently modeling professional nursing behaviors. Partner in the design, review, and implementation of initial and annual competency assessments. Maintain and demonstrate clinical competency in the designated specialty through ongoing education, training, and practice. Develop and oversee initial competency evaluations, ensuring timely completion and compliance with organizational standards. Serve as administrator for the hospital's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and assignment of educational content. Manage all aspects of the RQI Program, including platform administration, user management, participant enrollment and unenrollment, monitoring user completion, generating reports, and maintaining carts. Collaborate with Chief Nursing Officer and Human Resources Director to organize and coordinate a comprehensive orientation program for new employees, ensuring alignment with hospital standards, departmental needs, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate clinical internship programs as needed. Assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with best practices. Maintain and manage education equipment and supplies. Collaborate closely with the clinical departments and Director of Compliance and Quality to support organizational goals related to patient safety, regulatory adherence, and performance improvement. Actively participate in process improvement initiatives by identifying educational gaps, analyzing data trends, and implementing targeted training solutions to enhance clinical outcomes and staff competency. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Qualifications Education & Training:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, Health Education, or a related healthcare field. A master's degree (e.g., MSN with a focus in education or healthcare administration), preferred.Experience:
Experience in educational program development, staff development, and LMS administration. Familiarity with evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and project management. Previous teaching experience preferred. 3-5 years as an RN in a hospital setting.Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Registered Nurse in the State of Texas Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), ACLS, and PALS required.Key Skills:
Self-motivated and organized; able to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrates strong follow-through. Strong communication skills, ability to work with different types of learners and ability to design and deliver remedial training as needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and LMS systems.
