Description Make an impact. Join our growing outpatient clinics, focused on improving the wellbeing of families. We are seeking a mission driven and dedicated Medical Assistant for our health center in Apple Valley, CA. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Improve patient satisfaction by calling patients to share with them their test results and provider's recommendation. At patient's request, schedule the patients for follow-up. Confirm patient's understanding and satisfaction. Mail results to patients that cannot be reached by telephone. Willingness to work as part of a collaborative team that includes, social worker, physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians. St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers utilizes EPIC for our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Position is Part-Time working 20 hours per week. This is a grant funded position with a term of 36 months. Who We Are. We are a collaborative community practice, with locations in Fullerton, Anaheim, Orange, and the High Desert. We believe that everyone should have access to high quality comprehensive medical care, regardless of their ability to pay. Our health centers use a team-based model of care that includes family medicine, obstetrics, women's health, oral and vision care, preventative and educational health, mental health, patient advocacy, case management, and community health. Most of our patients live below 200% of the Federal Poverty level and are best served in Spanish. Through our origins with St. Joseph Health, we have provided care to low-income families since the 1980s, maintaining a commitment to serving our most vulnerable neighbors with high-quality, nationally recognized care. Our work is rooted in our values of Justice , Excellence , Dignity , and Compassion . Essential Functions (What You Do). The Community Health Worker is responsible for helping neighbors and health center patients navigate and access community and other services, health center services, and adopting healthy behaviors. Community Health Workers promote health education resources, connect individuals to health insurance coverage and health care services, and assess the need for and connect individuals and families to community resources. The position will also be responsible for: Provide individuals with resources to obtain health insurance coverage and health care services. Help patients with educational resources that promotes healthy living. Incumbent may travel via personal vehicle throughout the community and between other Clinical facilities and departments. Ability to interact in community settings, such as health fairs, with up to 40% travel. Drive the Mobile Health Van as needed Medical Assistant as needed. Assist the medical provider in providing high quality, efficient and service-oriented patient care demonstrating our core values. Under the direction of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner or lead, assist with direct patient care within the scope of a Medical Assistant. Measure and record vital signs, turn over exam rooms and answer phone calls, as needed. Assist patients with scheduling appointments, perform data entry such as updating medical histories and contact information as needed. Uphold all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other regulatory compliance and safety requirements.Compensation and Benefits:

High School Diploma or GED Preferred Education:
A certificate of completion from an accredited school of training for medical assisting.Required License/ Certifications:
CPR/AED / BLS
Certification Valid and unrestricted California Driver's License with clean driving record.Preferred License/Certifications:
Medical Assistant Certificate Required Experience:
1 to 2 years of relevant work experience.Preferred Experience:
Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Medical Assistant. Prior experience utilizing Epic electronic health record system Community Clinic experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Required:
Strong organization and follow-up skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Knowledge of computer software programs and basic office equipment. Demonstrates the ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish without an interpreter. Demonstrates interpersonal/cultural sensitivity and work with a diverse and often underserved population. Effective written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization and with vendors. Highly organized with strong time management skills, being able to perform simultaneous tasks, prioritize them effectively and follow through quickly. Proficiency with EMR systems. (EPIC experience preferred.) Communication skills consistent with the facilitation of health and wellness topics to individuals, small and large groups of community residents.
