Job Description

Job Summary Wellness In Action (WIA) is recruiting a part-time Community Health Worker (CHW) to join our team. Wellness In Action (WIA) is dedicated to providing a network of mental and behavioral health resources to those who live and work in Big Sky, MT in order to improve community wellbeing. Community Health Workers (CHWs) are trusted members of the community who connect others with local resources to help them meet their health and social needs. WIA's Community Health Worker (CHW) is a member of the WIA Program Team, responsible for facilitating access to health/social services and increasing community knowledge of resources. This role focuses on direct client support, resource navigation, and community engagement to reduce barriers to care and improve overall health outcomes. The CHW works closely with WIA staff, community partners, and service providers to ensure individuals receive timely and appropriate support. Job Description Direct Client Services Connect with community members seeking assistance through WIA's referral process Assist clients in identifying needs, barriers to care, and setting wellness goals Provide resource education and connect clients to appropriate services and supports Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all client interactions Ensure compliance with ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and reporting obligations Community Collaboration & Outreach Participate in outreach events and community presentations to increase awareness of WIA services Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, employers, and service providers to ensure coordinated support for clients Serve as a visible, approachable, and trusted resource in the community Data Tracking & Reporting & Administrative Duties Document all client encounters and maintain organized records Submit required reports and updates to the Director of Programs Attend regular supervision meetings and team check-ins Perform other related duties as assigned Training & Professional Development Complete Community Health Worker training within 6 months of hire (if not already certified) Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities Stay informed on community resources and best practices in community health Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required At least 1 year of experience in community health, social services, or related field preferred Knowledge of the Big Sky community and available resources strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds Knowledge of or willingness to learn community resources and service systems Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic proficiency with email and Microsoft Office tools Spanish language skills preferred, but not required Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a background check Ability to complete required CHW training within six months of hire Reliable transportation for community-based work Compensation and Benefits Part-time position based in Big Sky, MT, offering $25-$27 per hour (DOE), with employer-supported training and professional development opportunities.
