Job Description

EMBRACE ALL LATINO VOICES
is seeking a dedicated and compassionate intern to join their Health Access team as a Community Health Advocate. This position will empower underserved communities by promoting health education and access to healthcare resources. You will gain hands-on experience in health advocacy, outreach, and community health initiatives. While bilingual fluency (preferably in English and either Portuguese, Spanish, or French) is highly desirable, it is not mandatory. They welcome candidates passionate about making a positive impact on public health.
  • Conduct outreach to local communities to assess health needs and provide information on available healthcare resources.
  • Assist in coordinating health workshops, events, and screenings.
  • Educate community members about preventative healthcare, nutrition, and mental health resources.
  • Support the collection and analysis of health data to identify gaps in service and improve program offerings.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and community partners to enhance health equity efforts.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including maintaining records and preparing reports.
Eligibility for Federal Work-Study Program and financial need Current enrollment of 6 credit hours or more in an approved program at Central Piedmont Community College Satisfactory academic standing by maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher Satisfactory telephone and customer service skills
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
Good reading, writing and communication skills Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to maintain confidential information Ability to operate office equipment and utilizes office computer systems Ability to work both independently and with others Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds Demonstrate the ability to professionally, effectively and tactfully provide services to students, administration, faculty and the general public
  • Experience in community health or health education.
  • Knowledge of the Social Determinants of Health framework.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and either Portuguese, Spanish, or French.
