Our Mama Companions® build trusted relationships with moms, helping them navigate pregnancy, birth, and the first year after delivery by connecting them with healthcare, community resources, education, and emotional support. Position Description We are looking for a compassionate, bilingual (English/Spanish) Mama Companion® to provide one-on-one support to pregnant and postpartum mothers in the community. This is a community-based role that combines outreach, home visits, care coordination, and health education. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, meeting families where they are, and helping mothers overcome barriers to care. Responsibilities Engage with pregnant individuals and new mothers to assess their health needs, providing tailored education on prenatal care, nutrition, and postpartum wellness. Conduct home visits and community outreach sessions to build trust, offer support, and connect clients with healthcare resources. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage healthy behaviors and address barriers related to health, addiction, or social determinants. Collect and document data on client interactions, health status, and service outcomes accurately using standardized tools. Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and community organizations to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Lead educational workshops on topics such as breastfeeding, infant care, nutrition, and medication management in accessible language. Advocate for clients' needs within the healthcare system while maintaining confidentiality and respecting cultural differences. Required Qualifications Fluent in both English and Spanish (required). Bachelors Degree or higher Experience working in healthcare, public health, social services, behavioral health, maternal health, or community-based programs. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with vulnerable populations is highly valued. High level of comfort conducting home visits and conducting community based care. Self-starter who thrives in a flexible, startup environment Skills in motivational interviewing and public speaking to motivate change effectively. Background in community health work, doula, lactation, with a strong understanding of maternal and perinatal health issues (Preferred) Prior experience in community outreach or health education roles is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
