laboratory, assisting in various laboratory tasks and ensuring high-quality results. Responsibilities Conduct histological procedures in an accredited
CAP/CLIA
laboratory. Assist in the gross room, including accessioning, cassette, and slide labeling. Work efficiently with minimal supervision, adapting hours as needed. Prepare tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis and complex testing. Maintain and operate laboratory equipment according to manufacturer guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of quality, safety, and compliance programs. Investigate, document, and resolve needs, problems, or complaints. Perform area-specific support and clinical activities. Train other testing personnel. Essential Skills High School Graduate or equivalent. Three years of experience in a Histopathology Laboratory preferred. HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification or eligibility for certification. Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing and information systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of regulatory compliance and HIPAA. Ability to distinguish colors for analysis and hear equipment timers. Fine hand manipulation for equipment operation and specimen handling. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with aseptic techniques. Ability to work well in a small team environment. Strong technical skills and an easy-going personality. Work Environment The work environment is a small laboratory space, shared with one or two colleagues. The role is primarily laboratory-based with some office duties for writing experiments, validation documents, and standard operating procedures. The position is a six-month contract covering maternity leave, with a day schedule from Monday to Friday, starting between 7 am and 9 am for an 8-hour shift. The team works closely with the accessioning team and requires creating shipment manifests for samples. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of West Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $39.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
