Non-Exempt Shift:
Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm MST) with rotating weekends Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cytogenetic Technologist to join our dynamic laboratory team. In this vital role, you will perform chromosome analysis and FISH analysis on hematologic and tumor clinical specimens, and preparing in-house and referral patient data and study data for reporting. Produces accurate test results for all patients. Provides technical direction to other employees, as directed. Develops and leads projects, as directed.
Responsibilities:
Follows laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and maintaining records of patient test results. Perform high complexity testing as directed by technical/general supervisor: Chromosome analysis, and FISH analysis of hematologic malignancies and tumors. Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities. Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the technical/general supervisor. Performs competencies as identified through the departmental competency program Writes standard operating procedure and updates current practices and documents. May review the work of subordinates to ensure compliance with CLIA and CAP personnel requirements, as directed. Designs and performs validation of new assay or continuous validation as directed by technical/general supervisor. Attends continuing education programs as scheduled Management /
Supervisor Responsibilities:
May lead the tasks of co-workers and training of co-workers. May have few to some project management.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science, genetics, chemical, physical, biological science, or other related field.
Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in CLIA laboratory setting. Experience with ASI or other computer systems for cytogenetics. Experience with uploading chromosome and FISH images into computer systems, analysis of hematologic and tumor chromosome and FISH panels. ASCP Certification in
