Job Description
Cytotechnologist 7am-3pm
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday Under the general direction of the Cytology Supervisor and Pathologist, the Cytotechnologist will be responsible for performing the full range of procedures including the diagnosis of benign and malignant conditions and identifying any unusual findings in both gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens.
Responsibilities:
Practices regular hand hygiene and complies with standard and transmission based precautions as applicable. Utilizes personal protective equipment as needed. Establishes/monitors the department's quality control policies and ensures documentation of all quality control activities, instrument, and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Ensures that departmental supplies are stocked and well maintained. Correlates laboratory methods, procedures, and patient test results with age-specific population criteria and demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group. Addresses safety and psychological needs in planning or delivering care. Establishes and implements service priorities, workflow patterns; monitors workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services. Demonstrates the ability to evaluate departmental performance and recommends measures to improve services and quality of current methodologies.Requirements:
B.S. in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school. Graduate from a CAHEA-accredited school of Cytotechnology. Licensed as a Cytotechnologist under the NYS Department of Education. Certified in Cytotechnology by certifying agency approved by HHS (ASCP). Good oral and written communication skills, essential. Computer experience, desirable. One year successful experience in Cytology, desired. Salary Range USD $58.41- USD $74.
