PRN Position Summary:
The Cytotechnologist will receive, process, screen, and issue reports on all GYN, and Non-GYN specimens. The Cytotech is expected to abide by all CAP requirements and must be able to independently maintain all policies and procedures pertaining to the performance of cytology specimens.

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from CAAHEP accredited university or hospital-based program required. Experience A minimum of 3 years healthcare related experience required. Prior cytology experience in a hospital-based laboratory is preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration ASCP certification preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Expected to monitor the quality of work, improve technologies when applicable, and guide technicians in proper technique. When applicable, the Cytotech will prepare slides and specimens for microscopic examination. This may include but not limited to examination of tissue and cellular samples under a microscope; evaluation of slides for specific abnormalities in the cell's shape, color, or size and patterns; working with numerous laboratory specimen preparations and cellular image analysis, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and molecular diagnostic procedures; cell staining and cell cellular abnormalities analysis etc. Supervisor responsibilities include all requirements for the department to maintain CAP certification. Includes preparation and maintenance of all manuals, procedures, an ability and willingness to participate in CAP inspections, and to maintain responsibility for the quality and organization of all cytology specimen protocols. Effectively utilize strong organizational skills. Consistently display effective verbal communication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
