In this role, you will support dentists by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures. Assist dentists during various treatments including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, maintaining proper radiation safety protocols. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patients by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures in clear, understandable terms. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to uphold clinic safety. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient flow. Support four-handed dentistry practices by working efficiently alongside the dentist to improve treatment speed and comfort. Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims or medical records as needed. Ensure all clinical areas adhere to OSHA guidelines and infection control protocols to promote a safe environment for staff and patients. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential for managing patient records efficiently. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge enhances your ability to assist effectively during procedures. Hands-on experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners is advantageous. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures is required to maintain a safe clinical environment. Experience supporting chairside assisting during various dental procedures including endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties is desirable.
