The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical dental assisting, patient management, and dental office procedures. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to comprehensive patient care in a supportive environment, utilizing your expertise in dental technology, infection control, and clinical procedures. The successful applicant will be committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and patient comfort while supporting the overall efficiency of the practice. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are readily available for scheduled procedures. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper documentation in electronic medical records (EMR systems). Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout visits. Maintain strict compliance with infection prevention management policies by following aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures. Document clinical notes accurately within patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix while respecting HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Process dental instruments according to sterilization standards and assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions while fostering a welcoming environment. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical records efficiently. Stay current with advancements in dental technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities. Requirements Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Dental Assistant (DA) with current licensure as applicable. Proven experience working in a private dental office setting with knowledge of general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and infection control protocols. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and patient management purposes. Familiarity with dental radiography including X-ray procedures and safety standards. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical documentation practices. Experience with dental sterilization procedures, instrument processing, and infection prevention measures. Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting chairside with various treatments, and operating dental equipment effectively. Excellent communication skills coupled with a professional demeanor that emphasizes patient care and confidentiality. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise along with aseptic technique adherence is essential. •RDA is strongly preferred, but will train highly skilled DA's. Full time or Part time ______ We are a private family dental office in the Rosedale area. If you have ever worked for one of those corporate chop shop type dental offices, you will very much appreciate how different the dental experience is here at Custom Dental. The person fulfilling this job will be the primary assistant to one of our dentists. The position has great job security, growth potential, and is available immediately.
