Job Description
Cross-Trained Dental Assistant /
Front Office Coordinator Pay:
$25+/hour, based on experience and qualifications Our dental practice is looking for an experienced, dependable, and versatile dental professional who is comfortable working both front office and back office . This position is ideal for someone who understands the entire dental practice—from insurance verification and patient communication at the front desk to assisting the doctor and supporting the clinical team in the back.REQUIRED

Open Dental experience —REQUIRED
We are specifically looking for someone who can step into an established dental office and contribute without needing to learn the fundamentals of dental workflow or Open Dental from the beginning. Front Office Responsibilities The ideal candidate should be comfortable with: Dental insurance verification and full benefit breakdowns Understanding PPO insurance, frequencies, limitations, deductibles, annual maximums, and patient portions Dental billing and basic claim follow-up Reviewing EOBs and understanding insurance payments Scheduling and confirming appointments Patient check-in and check-out Collecting copays, balances, and patient payments Clearly explaining estimated insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility Presenting treatment plans and discussing financial arrangements Answering phones, texts, and emails professionally Helping maintain productive doctor and hygiene schedules Following up on unscheduled treatment and helping fill schedule openings Maintaining accurate patient information and documentation in Open Dental Back Office Responsibilities Candidate must also be willing and able to support the clinical team, including: Chairside assisting Taking digital X-rays with appropriate California certification Setting up and breaking down operatories Sterilization and infection-control procedures Preparing instruments and materials Maintaining accurate clinical documentation Assisting with general dentistry procedures Helping maintain efficient patient flow Stepping in to support the clinical team when additional help or coverage is needed Who We're Looking For In addition to the two required qualifications above, our ideal candidate: Has experience working in both dental front office and back office Has strong knowledge of dental insurance verification and billing Understands dental terminology and common procedures Has appropriate California dental assisting/X-ray certifications Is comfortable with technology and learns new systems quickly Is organized and detail-oriented Communicates confidently and professionally with patients Is reliable, punctual, and accountable Accepts constructive feedback and is willing to learn and grow Takes initiative and identifies what needs to be done Is flexible and willing to help wherever the practice needs support Works well as part of a team About the Position We are a patient-centered private dental practice that values quality care, teamwork, professionalism, and a positive working environment. We are looking for someone who doesn't want to be limited to only "front office" or only "back office." This person should enjoy understanding the whole practice and be comfortable moving between administrative and clinical responsibilities. There is opportunity to grow and take on additional responsibilities for the right person.Compensation:
$25+/hour, depending on experience, insurance/billing knowledge, clinical skills, and qualifications. Minimum 2 years of dental experience and prior Open Dental experience are required for consideration.Pay:
