In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain the highest standards of infection control and medical documentation. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing necessary tools and support efficiently. Take dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records by accurately updating electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments and treatment planning. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation within Epic or other systems. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures, waste disposal, and adherence to OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and patient information. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient records efficiently. Hands-on experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging equipment, and chairside assisting in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy related to oral health, and dental assisting procedures including four-handed dentistry. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
