In this energetic role, you will support dentists by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patients feel comfortable and cared for. Your expertise in dental procedures, infection control, and patient communication will help create a positive experience for every patient. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for various dental procedures. Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort. Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to proper safety protocols and infection control standards. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and answer their questions to promote overall dental health. Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy. Support the dental team with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and handling patient check-in/check-out processes. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Opendental, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control techniques, and aseptic procedures. Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or orthodontics is highly valued. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and medical coding practices related to dental procedures. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
