Position Summary The Dental Assistant delivers supportive clinical procedures under the supervision of our treating periodontists and endodontists. This role executes daily patient care duties reliably and to protocol, supporting smooth operative flow, strict infection control, digital imaging, and patient education. Key ResponsibilitiesChairside Assisting & Patient Care Assist doctors during endodontic, and periodontal specialty procedures. Perform four-handed chairside assisting, including high-volume suctioning, retraction, and anticipating provider needs. Assist the dental hygienists as needed Greet and seat patients warmly, confirming patient name, date of birth, medical history, and planned procedure. Prepare amenities for patient comfort and support patients through dental anxiety. Review post-operative care instructions, oral hygiene education, and prescription precautions with patients. Operatory Setup & Infection Control Prepare operatories specific to scheduled procedures, verifying necessary instruments, trays, and materials. Clean, disinfect, and turn over treatment rooms between patients according to practice protocols. Maintain infection control and safety standards adhering to OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines. Process, bag, autoclave, and store dental instruments and cassettes safely. Complete routine equipment maintenance, such as filling water reservoirs, running ultrasonic cycles, changing suction traps, and performing weekly spore testing. Diagnostic Imaging & Digital Technology Take digital dental radiographs, including periapicals (PA), bitewings (BWX), and full mouth series (FMX). Assist with
CBCT / 3D
imaging positioning and safety protocols. Assist with intraoral 3D scanning (iTero / Shining 3D) and intraoral photography. Set up specialty equipment such as periscopes and dental lasers. Documentation & Office Operations Maintain precise clinical charting, consent forms, and patient records within Eaglesoft, XDR, and DTX practice software. Monitor clinical inventory in treatment rooms and sterilization areas, stocking paper products, PPE, and supplies. Participate in morning team huddles, support flow across operatories, and assist colleagues during busy schedules. Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Certification Dental Assistant Certificate from an accredited program. California Radiation Safety Certificate (X-ray License). Infection Control Certificate California Dental Practice Act completion. Active Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR Certification. RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) license or CDA certification is preferred. Experience & Competencies Minimum 3+ years of clinical dental assisting experience (experience in Periodontics and/or Endodontics is a plus). Proficiency with dental practice management and digital imaging software (Eaglesoft, XDR, DTX). Strong interpersonal communication skills and empathetic patient manner. High reliability, punctuality, and commitment to collaborative teamwork.
