Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) We are looking for a skilled, dependable, and patient-focused Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our dental team. This is an important clinical role for someone who enjoys working closely with the dentist, staying organized, anticipating what is needed next, and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their visit. Our ideal RDA takes pride in providing excellent chairside support while maintaining a clean, efficient, and well-prepared clinical environment. We're looking for someone who can balance efficiency with attention to detail and understands that great dental assisting involves both strong clinical skills and compassionate patient care. Your Day-to-Day Chairside & Patient Care Assist the dentist during exams, restorative treatment, emergency visits, and other general dentistry procedures within the RDA scope of practice. Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, equipment, and patient information before each appointment. Anticipate the dentist's needs during treatment to help procedures run efficiently. Seat patients and review relevant medical history, medications, allergies, and changes in health. Communicate important medical or patient concerns to the dentist before treatment. Take diagnostic radiographs when authorized and ensure appropriate radiation-safety procedures are followed. Help patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their appointments. Provide approved post-operative instructions and patient education within your scope and under dentist direction. Assist with efficient room turnover and keep the clinical schedule moving throughout the day. Clinical Records & Dentrix Accurately enter clinical information into Dentrix as directed by the dentist. Assist with documenting treatment performed, materials used, patient instructions, and other relevant clinical information. Maintain accurate radiographs and patient records. Confirm appropriate consent and documentation are available before procedures. Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements at all times. Sterilization & Infection Control Maintain proper instrument processing and sterilization procedures. Clean and disinfect operatories between patients according to infection-control standards. Maintain appropriate PPE and follow bloodborne-pathogen and sharps-safety procedures. Assist with sterilization monitoring and required documentation, including spore testing. Follow applicable OSHA/Cal-OSHA, infection-control, radiation-safety, waste-disposal, and workplace-safety requirements. Help maintain organized clinical and sterilization areas. Supplies & Clinical Organization Monitor clinical supplies, instruments, PPE, and materials to help prevent shortages. Communicate ordering needs before supplies become critically low. Track incoming and outgoing lab cases and help ensure cases are available before scheduled appointments. Keep operatories stocked and organized for upcoming procedures. Communicate promptly with the dentist and front office regarding delays, missing items, lab cases, or other issues that could affect the schedule.

Qualifications Candidates must have:

A current California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in good standing Current CPR/BLS certification as required for the position Appropriate California radiography certification/authorization for assigned duties Working knowledge of dental infection control and sterilization procedures Understanding of PPE, sharps safety, bloodborne-pathogen precautions, and dental workplace safety Strong chairside assisting and organizational skills Professional and compassionate patient communication Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards for safety and accuracy Dependable attendance and a willingness to work collaboratively with the entire dental team Experience with Dentrix or a similar dental practice-management system is preferred. Previous general dentistry experience is strongly preferred, but we also value candidates who are motivated to learn, receptive to feedback, and committed to becoming a strong long-term member of the practice. What Success Looks Like A successful RDA in our office helps the clinical day feel organized rather than rushed. Operatories are prepared before patients are seated, necessary instruments and materials are readily available, and the dentist can move between patients without preventable delays. Within the first few months, we would expect you to be comfortable with our clinical workflows, sterilization protocols, documentation standards, and daily schedule. Clinical records and radiographs should be completed accurately and promptly, infection-control documentation should remain current, and supplies and lab cases should be monitored proactively. Most importantly, patients should feel that they are being cared for by someone who is knowledgeable, professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in making their dental experience a positive one.
