Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to strict safety protocols and radiation guidelines. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient well-being throughout procedures. Support infection control practices by maintaining aseptic technique, understanding anatomy, and following strict sterilization procedures. Assist with medical imaging procedures using advanced tools like 3D scanners when applicable. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation with precision. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing dental terminology is essential. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft enhances workflow efficiency. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of patient information at all times. Understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques is critical for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Experience with medical coding and documentation within electronic health records is advantageous. Strong communication skills are necessary for coordinating with team members and providing excellent patient care.
