Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily clinical operations, support dental practitioners, and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. Your leadership will help foster a smooth, efficient, and welcoming environment for both patients and staff. Responsibilities Lead chairside assisting during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Manage and coordinate the dental assisting team to optimize workflow using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for accurate medical documentation and records management. Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Support the dental receptionist by managing patient check-in/out processes, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance information with proficiency in medical coding and medical terminology. Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring safety standards are maintained at all times. Maintain a clean, sterile environment by practicing proper aseptic techniques, infection control measures, and adhering to OSHA guidelines. Assist with medical documentation related to procedures involving anatomy knowledge, medical imaging, or specialized treatments in pediatric or general dentistry settings. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control practices, and dental assisting procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across various specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics. Knowledge of X-ray technology, 3D scanners, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental practice. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy standards. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as a lead member of the team. Certification in radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics are advantageous.
