Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining proper safety measures for patients and staff using Dexis. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems (Dentrix) ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding. Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning. Educate patients on dental terminology, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to foster understanding and comfort. Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards and OSHA regulations. Assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary, ensuring high-quality results for diagnosis and treatment planning. Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort. Qualifications Expanded Functions Certification (required) Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems (Dentrix) for managing medical records and documentation. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Proficiency in taking X-rays, including 3D scans, with knowledge of radiation safety protocols using Dexis. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience supporting pediatric dentistry cases is highly desirable along with familiarity in pediatric-specific procedures. Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and support chairside assisting during complex procedures like endodontics or prosthodontics. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about treatments using clear dental terminology. Certification in dental assisting or relevant healthcare training is preferred; ongoing professional development is encouraged.
