Job Summary:
Responsible for dental assisting duties listed in Florida Statutes 466 and Administrative Rules 64B-5, screening and preparing patients for treatment; assisting dentist in treating patients; educating patients; processing instruments; taking and developing radiographs.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Dental Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from an accredited school or training program including. dental radiology required. Successful completion of Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certificate (EFDA) within 9 months from date of hire.
Experience:
2 years' experience in a dental setting preferred. Must have the ability to effectively use computer software and an electronic health record system.
Certification/Licensure:
Current/valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certificate (EFDA) within 12 months from date of hire required. Current/valid BLS certification within 30 days from date of hire.
Special skills:
Ability to stay positive in stressful situations. Ability to deal professionally with unhappy, fearful patients.
