Responsibilities Assist dentist during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth clinical flow. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Gather vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive dental care. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain treatment plans using clear dental terminology. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly. Support patient management software systems for scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a private practice or clinical setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with patient management software is preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care. Certification in dental assisting or relevant training in chairside assisting; additional certifications in X-ray or infection control are advantageous. Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic technique to ensure safety standards are met consistently. Ability to take accurate dental X-rays, including intraoral and extraoral imaging; experience with 3D scanners is a plus. Excellent communication skills for patient education and collaboration with the dental team; ability to manage sensitive medical documentation discreetly under clinical confidentiality policies. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
