Florida Prosthodontics Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Prosthodontics & Oral Surgery / Implant Placement • Rockledge, FL Position Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Location Rockledge, Florida (on-site) Employment type Temporary / PRN and Full-Time openings Specialty focus Prosthodontics and Oral Surgery / Implant placement Reports to Lead Dental Assistant / Office Manager / Doctor Compensation $20.00-$50.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications Position Overview Florida Prosthodontics is a multi-specialty dental practice in Rockledge, FL seeking skilled Registered Dental Assistants to support a busy surgical and restorative schedule. We are hiring for both temporary/PRN coverage and full-time, benefits-eligible roles. The ideal candidate is an experienced chairside assistant who is comfortable supporting complex prosthodontic and oral surgery / implant procedures, is precise with digital records and imaging, and helps deliver a calm, professional experience for patients undergoing advanced treatment. Key Responsibilities Chairside & Clinical Support Provide four-handed chairside assistance during restorative and surgical procedures, anticipating the doctor's needs throughout each case.
Prepare and turn over operatories:
set up trays and instruments, maintain a clean and stocked surgical field, and ensure timely room readiness between patients. Take and record vital signs and medical histories; review health information and flag concerns prior to treatment. Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and answer routine questions within scope. Prosthodontics Support Assist with crown & bridge, veneers, inlays/onlays, and full-mouth rehabilitation cases. Assist with complete and partial dentures and implant-supported prosthetics, including try-ins, deliveries, and adjustments. Fabricate temporary/provisional restorations and assist with cementation and bite registration per state scope and certification. Take and pour impressions, fabricate and trim study models, and prepare accurate, well-documented lab prescriptions and case tracking. Manage shade selection, photographs, and case communication with the dental laboratory. Oral Surgery / Implant Placement Support Assist with surgical extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and dental implant placement and uncovering / second-stage surgery. Maintain strict aseptic technique and sterile surgical fields; set up and break down surgical trays and implant kits. Assist with surgical suction, retraction, and irrigation, and monitor the patient throughout the procedure. Prepare and track implant components (fixtures, healing abutments, cover screws, drivers, surgical guides) and maintain accurate inventory and expiration logs. Support IV/oral sedation monitoring within scope, where applicable and certified. Digital Record Capture & Imaging Expose, capture, and store digital radiographs, including intraoral, panoramic, and cephalometric images (current Florida dental radiography certification required). Operate intraoral scanners and CBCT / cone beam imaging for digital impressions and implant planning workflows. Capture and organize clinical photographs and scans, and link them accurately to the patient record. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant electronic health records (EHR) and treatment documentation in the practice management software Eaglesoft. Support digital implant planning and surgical-guide workflows in coordination with the doctor and lab. Sterilization, Compliance & Operations Perform instrument sterilization, processing, and equipment maintenance per OSHA and CDC infection-control standards. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Florida Board of Dentistry rules, and practice protocols. Monitor and restock surgical and operatory supplies; assist with ordering and inventory management. Qualifications Required Prior chairside dental assisting experience, ideally including oral surgery, implant, and/or prosthodontic procedures. Current Florida dental radiography certification from a Board-approved program (required to expose radiographs in Florida; note that Florida does not recognize DANB certification for radiography or expanded functions). Current
BLS / CPR
certification. Working knowledge of dental terminology, instrumentation, and four-handed assisting. Proficiency with dental practice-management / EHR software and digital imaging systems. Strong attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to stay composed during surgical procedures. Preferred Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification (Board-approved 20-hour course per Florida Statute 466.024 and Rule 64B5-16.005). Experience with intraoral scanners, CBCT imaging, and digital implant-planning or surgical-guide workflows. Experience supporting IV/oral conscious sedation. Experience with Eaglesoft and CAD/CAM systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and assist for the duration of long surgical cases. Manual dexterity and close-vision acuity for precise chairside work. Routine exposure to a clinical environment, including bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and dental materials, with appropriate PPE. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Employment Options:
Temporary vs. Full-Time We are filling both temporary/PRN and full-time positions. Core clinical duties and required certifications are the same for both; the difference is in schedule, commitment, and benefits.
