Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of clinical procedures, dental assisting techniques, and patient management, with a focus on expanding their scope of practice to include advanced dental procedures. As an essential member of our practice, you will support dentists in delivering high-quality care, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Responsibilities Assist dentists with a wide range of clinical procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced dental assisting skills. Perform chairside assisting duties with proficiency in four-handed dentistry to enhance workflow efficiency. Take dental radiographs, including X-rays and 3D scans, adhering to strict infection prevention management protocols. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation for patients requiring medical imaging or health assessments. Support patient care by providing clear explanations of procedures using appropriate dental terminology and ensuring a positive patient experience. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while managing medical records and documentation efficiently within patient management software like Epic. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure infection control standards are upheld across all clinical areas. Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling, patient check-in/out, and coordinating care for pediatric patients or those requiring specialized services like oral surgery or prosthodontics. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a strong background in general dentistry and clinical assisting. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanner technology. Experience in pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, or prosthodontics is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of infection prevention management and sterilization protocols within a dental clinic setting. Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to strict aseptic techniques. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and healthcare infection control standards. Excellent communication skills combined with a professional attitude towards patient management and team collaboration. Pay:
$23.00 - $28.00 per hour
