Job Description
Pediatric Dental & Orthodontic Clinical Assistant Bloom Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics — Lombard, Illinois $22-$26 per hour, based on experience Bloom Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is looking for a confident, energetic clinical assistant with experience in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. This position is based primarily at our welcoming, growing practice in Lombard. Twice per month—on Tuesdays—you will also accompany Dr. Blair to Hinsdale Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry, where you will assist exclusively with pediatric dental care. This is an excellent opportunity for an assistant who has built a solid clinical foundation and is ready to take greater ownership—especially in orthodontics—without being expected to run a clinic alone. You will work alongside an experienced, supportive team and receive additional training as you grow into the role. What You'll Do Pediatric dentistry Assist Dr. Blair with pediatric preventive, restorative, and operative procedures Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and patients efficiently Help children feel safe and comfortable through a cheerful, reassuring presence Stay attentive and anticipate the doctor's needs during fast-moving procedures Provide age-appropriate distraction and encouragement for young patients Follow excellent infection-control, sterilization, and clinical-safety practices Travel with Dr. Blair to our Hinsdale office approximately two Tuesdays per month Orthodontics Support orthodontic appointments and procedures at Bloom Comfortably assist with common orthodontic workflows and materials Help organize and maintain efficient orthodontic clinical systems Serve as a dependable point person for day-to-day orthodontic assisting needs Build on your existing orthodontic skills through hands-on training Who We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is: Experienced in both pediatric dental assisting and orthodontic assisting Equipped with at least 12 months of hands-on dental assisting experience Confident, quick, attentive, and comfortable in a busy clinical setting Naturally upbeat and reassuring with children and parents Proactive and willing to jump in wherever the team needs help Organized, dependable, and able to anticipate what comes next Comfortable taking ownership of orthodontic assisting responsibilities Eager to learn, accept feedback, and grow with an evolving practice Able and willing to work at our Hinsdale location two Tuesdays per month We are looking for someone with a strong working foundation—not necessarily someone who has seen everything.
