Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient organizer of our busy dental practice. This vital role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring patients receive exceptional care and service from the moment they walk through our doors. You'll be instrumental in maintaining smooth office operations, managing patient interactions, and supporting clinical procedures with enthusiasm and professionalism. We're looking for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering top-tier patient care. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatment. Handle medical billing and collections efficiently, including insurance verification, coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9), and processing claims through systems like Meditech or Athenahealth. Maintain accurate and organized dental records and medical documentation in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Epic. Manage front desk duties including answering multi-line phones with excellent phone etiquette, managing patient intake forms, and performing clerical tasks like filing and data entry. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during documentation review and health information management activities. Support office operations by coordinating medical scheduling, verifying insurance benefits, and assisting with clinic administrative support tasks. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and billing processes including Medicare and other insurance providers. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is a plus. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills such as 10-key typing for efficient data entry. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings is advantageous. Knowledge of medical administrative support functions like documentation review, care plans, and health information management enhances your candidacy. Previous hospital or clinic experience involving health information management or front desk operations will set you apart.
