In this role, you will provide essential chairside support during pediatric dental procedures, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for young patients. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your knowledge of pediatric dentistry, will help foster a welcoming environment that promotes oral health and confidence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives while working in a dynamic, fast-paced clinic setting. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and extractions, using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to minimize radiation exposure. Gather and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature before procedures to monitor patient health. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in electronic health record (EHR) system like open dental ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures tailored to pediatric dentistry needs. Assist with medical imaging procedures using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners when necessary for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. Skills Proficiency with electronic medical records system open dental for documentation and scheduling. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to pediatric dentistry, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Experience with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a friendly demeanor that reassures young patients. Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental procedures for accurate billing and insurance processing. Familiarity with general dentistry procedures including endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties relevant to pediatric care. Excellent communication skills suitable for explaining treatments clearly to children and their guardians while working collaboratively with the dental team.
