The ideal candidate will support clinical operations, assist with patient care, and ensure the smooth functioning of the dental practice. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, infection control protocols, and excellent communication skills to provide exceptional patient service. Experience with electronic health records and various dental software is highly preferred. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics specialties. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained. Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper radiation safety protocols are followed. Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic medical records systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical documentation, and scheduling appointments. Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance procedure efficiency. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. Maintain sterilization protocols and ensure all equipment is properly sanitized according to infection control guidelines. Assist with administrative duties including data entry into EMR systems, managing medical records, and supporting billing or coding processes related to dental procedures. Support pediatric dentistry patients with specialized care techniques suitable for children. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to dentistry is necessary. Experience with dental software such as Dentrix is preferred. Proficiency in taking X-rays and operating medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners is highly desirable. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality is mandatory. Certification in dental assisting or relevant training programs is preferred; additional experience in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics will be considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient comfort.
