A pioneer Federally Qualified Health Center, Open Door provides more than 300,000 patient visits annually and serves nearly 60,000 individual patients who might not otherwise have access. Open Door offers integrated services and a holistic approach to building healthier communities. Primary medical care, dental care, integrated behavioral health care, clinical nutrition, wellness programs, and chronic disease management are the foundation of its clinical programs. Founded as a free clinic in 1972, Open Door's mission of building healthier communities through accessible, equitable, culturally competent health care has led to site and service expansions. Today, Open Door operates centers in Brewster, Mamaroneck, Mount Kisco, Ossining, Port Chester, and Sleepy Hollow, in addition to eight School-Based Health Centers in the Port Chester and Ossining School Districts, a mobile dental van in Mount Kisco, and a new dental practice in Saugerties, NY. Open Door is currently seeking a Dental Assistant for its Port Chester, NY location to assist in the provision of dental services. The Dental Assistant performs a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties (Assisting the dentist, prepare patients for treatment, taking x-rays, scheduling dental appointments). Candidates are expected to travel between sites if it's necessary but not more than 20% of the time. As an Open Door employee, you would be eligible to participate in Open Door's Retention Bonus Plan, which pays a quarterly bonus of $750, beginning the first quarter following 3 months of employment as long as you remain an active employee in good standing. The Retention Bonus Plan will continue until December 2023.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides chair-side assistance when necessary during dental treatment Assures that dental record, medical record and encounter form are available for the dentist or dental hygienist Prepares patient for examinations and treatment, including placement of bib and instruments for procedure Maintains supplies and instruments in all dental procedures Performs laboratory and x-ray tasks under supervision of dentist Make appointments for patients. Verifies the need for return appointments Greets visitors and patients in a courteous, prompt and friendly manner Determines their needs, checks appointments and gives appropriate information If Designated as responsible for Bio Hazardous Waste removal, complete online training and receive certificate prior to completing this task.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Dental assistance experience preferred. Superior customer service skills and experience Passionate about providing high quality care to low-income.
