Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies. Assist the dentist chairside during various procedures such as oral surgery, periodontics and implant placements. Take dental x-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, digital scans (Trios), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed for patient and staff protection. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Gather vital signs, medical history, and relevant information to support comprehensive patient care while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions about procedures or billing processes. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing patient flow, and maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment aligned with infection control standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental equipment operation. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix Ascend Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards; certification in dental x-ray is preferred. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry environments.
