Your positive energy is what we are searching for in addition to the following job requirements: Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with specialized knowledge in expanded functions procedures, infection control, and dental technology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care while supporting the clinical operations of our practice. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced chairside assisting techniques. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, placing temporary restorations, and applying sealants in accordance with state regulations and practice protocols. Manage sterilization and processing of dental instruments following infection prevention management and aseptic techniques to ensure safety and compliance. Take and develop dental radiographs (x-ray) including intraoral and extraoral images using digital imaging systems like Dentrix. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental reception area by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Uphold clinical confidentiality policies and adhere to all infection control standards to promote a safe environment for patients and staff. Skills Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems (Dentrix is a plus) for documentation and scheduling. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry. Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention protocols, and aseptic technique. Ability to operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and other diagnostic tools effectively. Expertise in dental instrument processing, four-handed dentistry practices, and clinical confidentiality policies. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control standards specific to dental clinics. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, and dentists while providing outstanding patient care.
