  • Team unity Responsibilities Assist orthodontistsduring various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with aseptic techniques. Take digital dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems. Provide comprehensive patient education on orthodontic care instructions, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment protocols. Support infection control protocols by following strict sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic flow by handling administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and updating medical documentation. Requirements Valid EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary) or EFODA (Expanded Functions Orthodontic Dental Auxiliary) certification with current licensure. Applicants without one of these certifications will not be considered. Prior experience in dental assisting, especially within pediatric dentistry or orthodontics, is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently and safely. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry is advantageous. Ability to perform medical/dental documentation accurately within a fast-paced environment.
