In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and clinical excellence. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use according to infection prevention management procedures. Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing support with dental instrument processing and medical imaging. Take and develop dental x-rays while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient care by taking vital signs, updating medical records, and documenting medical terminology accurately within patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Educate patients on oral health care instructions post-treatment, ensuring understanding of dental terminology and home care routines. Maintain dental equipment functionality through routine inspection and troubleshooting; assist with dental sterilization procedures to uphold infection control standards. Support administrative tasks including answering the phone as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate record keeping and patient management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry. Experience with dental equipment operation including 3D scanners, X-ray machines, dental sterilization tools, and other clinical devices. Expertise in infection prevention management techniques such as aseptic technique and healthcare infection control practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficient patient flow. Skilled in medical documentation and medical records management while maintaining strict confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA standards. Excellent communication skills for patient education and collaboration with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
