In this vital role, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry by handing instruments and maintaining a clear field of operation Take and develop dental x-rays using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners while adhering to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety protocols Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical records in patient management software like Dentrix or Epic, and verifying insurance information Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support clinical assessments and ensure accurate medical documentation Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards Perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, or similar patient management software Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry Experience with dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilizers, and other clinical tools Ability to perform oral surgery assistance, endodontics procedures, prosthodontics support, and pediatric dentistry care with confidence Expertise in infection control practices including aseptic technique and healthcare infection prevention standards Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including pediatrics—and collaborate with team members like dental receptionists or hygienists Familiarity with medical coding for dental procedures and documentation requirements for accurate billing This role is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals eager to develop their career in healthcare assistance within a supportive environment dedicated to patient well-being.
