Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology like 3D scanners and ensure proper patient positioning for accurate results. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dolphin, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on orthodontic care, including appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and reduce patient discomfort. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with pediatric dentistry procedures to ensure a comfortable experience for young patients. Maintain infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments to uphold safety standards. Experience Proven experience as a dental assistant in a busy orthodontic or general dentistry practice is preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques is essential. Hands-on experience with dental X-ray procedures, including 3D scanning technology and medical imaging techniques. Strong understanding of dental terminology related to orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. Ability to perform dental assisting duties confidently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. X-ray certification preferred. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures enhances your ability to support complex treatments effectively.
