Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Orthodontic Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will assist the orthodontist in delivering top-quality care to patients, ensuring a comfortable and efficient clinical experience. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping patients achieve confident, healthy smiles.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain treatment areas and instruments according to infection control protocols. Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures such as bonding, wire changes, impressions, and debanding. Take and process digital X-rays, photographs, and impressions (traditional and digital). Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Schedule appointments and manage patient flow effectively. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies. Provide chairside support and ensure patient comfort throughout procedures. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and care for orthodontic appliances Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health records systems (such as Epic, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft) Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Dental Assisting program (preferred). X-ray certification required; orthodontic assisting certification a plus CPR/BLS certification. 1+ year of experience in orthodontics or general dentistry preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply. Knowledge of infection control protocols and ability to maintain a clean and sterile environment Familiarity with dental receptionist duties, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and handling patient inquiries Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality Proficiency in medical terminology and basic anatomy knowledge Experience with electronic health records systems (such as Epic, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft) Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
