Job Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where your expertise will elevate patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this vital role, you will assist dentists with advanced procedures, manage patient flow, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety. Responsibilities Assist dentists with a wide range of expanded functions, including coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other procedures permitted by state regulations. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Perform chairside assisting during procedures such as X-ray imaging, medical imaging, and vital signs monitoring to support patient comfort and safety. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Take high-quality X-rays and operate advanced imaging tools such as 3D scanners to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Provide excellent dental receptionist support by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and verifying insurance information. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination within the clinic environment. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions within a general or pediatric dentistry setting. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and dental assisting best practices. Experience working with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with infection control standards, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety guidelines; experience with medical imaging is a plus. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and the ability to work effectively with children is highly desirable.
