Job Description

Job Overview I'm a general dentist opening a brand-new, privately owned fee-for-service dental practice in West Knoxville , and I'm looking for the person who will be my right-hand partner as we build this practice together from the ground up! We're starting with a blank slate — new office, new systems, new team, and eventually a growing patient base. This means you'll have a genuine opportunity to help shape the culture, systems, patient experience, and future of the practice. Dental assisting experience is welcome, but experience is not required. I'm looking for someone who is naturally warm & outgoing, personable with a positive attitude, a dependable team player, adaptable to change as we grow together, and genuinely enjoys taking care of people. I'm very open to someone who is newer to dentistry if you have the right personality, work ethic, and willingness to learn. Responsibilities Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of treatment procedures. Set up and breakdown of treatment rooms to ensure a Signature patient experience (sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly according to infection control protocols). Take high-quality dental x-rays and 3D scans with precision & accuracy. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and addressing patient questions/concerns with professionalism and empathy. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting the front desk when needed to ensure seamless clinic operations. Any associated lab work that is necessary for patient cases. Requirements Prior experience working in a dental office setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures is preferred but not required. Basic knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical documentation practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Ability to perform chairside assisting with skills in four-handed dentistry. Willingness and eagerness to learn proficiency in dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, dental sterilization procedures, EMR systems, infection control, and cross-train positions. What Makes This Position Different We are starting from zero patients, so you will be apart of building something rather than walking into something already established. This means you'll have the opportunity to help develop our office culture, patient experience, clinical systems, daily workflows, organizational systems, and team processes. As the practice grows, your role can grow with it. There will be plenty of growth opportunities including EFDA certification, additional responsibility and leadership within the practice.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$20-$25/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Schedule:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, no nights or weekends. Potential schedule Monday-Thursday 8AM-5PM with Friday hours TBD.

I'm looking for someone who wants to be part of the journey. Someone who will celebrate the good days with me, help problem-solve through the hard days, care deeply about our patients, and grow alongside the practice. We're going to change, adapt, learn, and evolve as we build this together. I want someone who is excited by that—not intimidated by it.
