Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent patient care skills, and familiarity with modern dental technology. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists during clinical procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and medical documentation. This position offers an engaging environment where your technical expertise and compassionate approach will contribute to delivering exceptional dental care. Duties Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, and ensuring all supplies are stocked. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and safety. Provide chairside assistance using aseptic techniques and proper anatomy knowledge to support procedures like vital signs measurement and medical imaging. Manage patient records within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, dental terminology, and medical coding. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and treatment plans to foster informed decision-making. Maintain infection control standards by following strict sterilization protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Requirements Preferred experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Proficiency in taking X-rays, operating 3D scanners, and performing chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical documentation standards. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages providing compassionate care in a fast-paced environment. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred; ongoing education in dental assisting is encouraged to stay current with industry standards.
